چکیده

A comparative study of preparation of two biopolymer nanocomposites, by free radical graft copolymerization of sodium alginate (sa) was done with two monomers such as acrylic acid (aac) and itaconic acid (ita) like poly (sa-co-aac) biopolymer nanocomposite, poly (sa-co-ita) biopolymer nanocomposite. in this work, ecological, simple, and stable new biopolymers was studied and characterized using several techniques such as ftir, fe-sem, tem, and xrd. the data appeared that using kps 0.09 g, mba 0.03 g, ita 2 g, sa 2 g, and aac 2 g, the biopolymer nanocomposites highest swelling ratio in distilled water was 670 % in graft copolymerization of poly (sa-co-aac) biopolymer nanocomposite and 1100 in graft copolymerization of poly (sa-co-ita) biopolymer nanocomposite. the biopolymer was greatly affected via the monomer aac, and monomer ita level in the biopolymer, which gives the best capability to swelling. thus, the biopolymer displayed swelling behaviors that were dependent of monomers. poly (sa-co-ita) biopolymer nanocomposite best antibacterial activity comparative with poly (sa-co-aac) biopolymer nanocomposite for gram-negative bacteria. this is a clear indication that the process of loading (ita) on the biopolymer increases the efficiency of the surface in the biological activity.
