student teachers’ and educators’ perceptions of educatorinterpersonal behavior at teacher education university in iran

Abstract classroom is an environment where teachers and students as inhabitants of different worlds are supposed to experience some sort of daily give-and-take. such inherent discrepancies between these two groups of interlocutors might be among the untouched areas of research. therefore, this study aimed to explore the cords and discords between first-year student teachers’ and their educators’ perceptions of educator interpersonal behavior. the sample of the study included 4 efl educators and 102 student teachers majoring in tefl at two branches of iranian teacher education university. data were collected with the australian version of the questionnaire on teacher interaction (qti) that was validated and modified into four formats for measuring the participants’ perceptions of the actual educators and an ideal educator interpersonal behavior. the results indicated that although both groups perceived an ideal educator interpersonal behavior similarly, the educators generally overestimated their cooperative behaviors and underestimate their oppositional ones in comparison to what their student teachers perceived. the results also indicated that male and female student teachers perceived some cooperative behaviors in the educators from the opposite gender more significantly. based on the findings, it can be concluded that there are some perceptual mismatches between student teachers’ and educators’ perceptions of actual educator interpersonal behavior. therefore, the findings imply that educators should take some measures to locate these perceptual mismatches and eliminate them gradually.

تصورات دانشجومعلمان و اساتید آنها از رفتار بین فردی اساتید در دانشگاه تربیت معلم (دانشگاه فرهنگیان)

کلاس درس محیطی است که معلمان و دانشجویان به عنوان ساکنین دنیای مختلف می بایست تعاملات روزانه با یکدیگر تجربه کنند. بررسی چنین اختلافات ذاتی بین این دو گروه از مخاطبان ازحوزه های دست نخورده تحقیق بله نظر می رسد. بنابراین، این مطالعه با هدف بررسی مشترکات و مفترقات بین درک دانشجومعلمان و اساتید آنها در خصوص رفتار بین فردی اساتید صورت گرفت. نمونه پژوهش مشتمل بر 4 نفر از اساتید زبان انگلیسی و 102 دانشجومعلم رشته دبیری زبان انگلیسی از پردیس های دانشگاه فرهنگیان بود. داده ها تحقیق با استفاده از نسخه استرالیایی پرسشنامه تعامل معلم (QTI) جمع آوری شد که تصور دانشجومعلمان و اساتید آنها را پیرامون رفتار بین فردی اساتیدشان و همچنین اساتید ایده آل مورد ارزیابی قرار می داد. نتایج تحقیق حاکی از آن بود که اگرچه هر دو گروه تصور یکسانی از رفتارهای بین فردی استاد ایده ال داشتند اما اساتید رفتارهای مشارکتی خود (رهبری و مسوولیت در قبال دانشجویان) را بالاتر و رفتارهای مقابله ای (عدم اطمینان) را پایین تر از دانشجومعلمان ارزیابی کردند. نتایج همچنین نشان داد که دانشجو معلمان دختر و پسر، برخی از رفتارهای مشارکتی اساتید از جنس مخالف را بالاتر ارزیابی می کنند. براساس یافته ها می توان نتیجه گرفت که برخی از اختلافات بین تصورات دانشجومعلمان و اساتید آنها در خصوص رفتار بین فردی اساتید وجود دارد. لذا اساتید دانشگاه باید در راستای تعیین این اختلافات و رفع آنها اقداماتی انجام دهند.
