بازاندیشی در مدل‌سازی شهری: یک رویکرد نظری

بیان مسئله: شهرسازی همچون دیگر علوم، در گذر زمان تحت تاثیر جریان‌های فکری مختلف قرار گرفته است. از بازاندیشی در مدل‌سازی شهری تحت تاثیر جایگزینی جریان‌های فکری، می‌توان به عنوان خلا در مطالعات مدل‌سازی شهری حاضر نام برد. اما به طور همزمان، بازاندیشی در خصوص مفهوم مدل و مدل‌سازی در حوزه علوم طبیعی به‌دفعات صورت پذیرفته است. این موضوع ضرورت بازاندیشی در مدل‌سازی شهری را تاکید می‌کند. هدف: هدف از این پژوهش، بررسی و بیان دیدگاه‌های متاخر در تفکر مدل‌سازی در علوم طبیعی و در ادامه بسط آن به مدل‌سازی شهری، به‌منظور بازاندیشی در آن است. روش:  در این پژوهش از شیوه اسنادی در بررسی سیر تاریخی تفکر مدل‌سازی بهره گرفته شده است. سوال اصلی تحقیق آن است که رابطه مدلتئوری در علوم طبیعی چگونه تعریف شده است و چگونه می‌توان آن رابطه را بر مدل‌سازی شهری بسط داد. یافته ­ها: یافته‌های پژوهش نشانگر آن است که نگاه به مدل به‌عنوان واسطه‌گر میان پدیده و تئوری، طیفی جامع از کارکردها را برای مدل متصور است که غفلت از آن‌ها مدل را ناقص می‌نماید. درنهایت، تعریفی نوین از مدل‌سازی شهری ارائه شده است که در آن مدل ابزاری در خدمت تئوری نیست، بلکه ماهیتی نیمه‌مستقل و واسطه‌گر است که در جایگاهی برابر با تئوری می‌تواند موجب تضعیف یا تقویت تئوری شود. علاوه بر آن مشخص شد که مدل برای استفاده از تمام ظرفیت کارکردی خود نیازمند تئوری‌های پشتیبان قوی و شناخت درست از پدیده تحت بررسی است. نتیجه ­گیری: نتایج این مطالعه مدل‌سازی را یک تخصص معرفی می‌کند و نه یک مهارت ابزاری.

Rethinking Over Urban Modeling: A Theoretical View

Background: Urban Planning like other sciences has been affected of the different thinking streams. Rethinking over urban modeling based on theoretical view is the gap in contemporary urban studies. More than half a century has passed since the first use of models in urban planning. Simultaneously, rethinking on modeling concept has been made in natural sciences which is why urban modeling needs to take this necessity into account. Through a historical analysis in the first section, the primary aim is to inform the reader about a debate on modeltheory interaction. This debate concludes that without supportive theories, models are meaningless.Objectives: This paper focuses on the field of urban planning to figure out how the composition of TheoryModel has been shaped over the past decades.Methodology: This paper is a documentary research in Macro scale which stays away from applied researches.Results: This study offers some advices on how to make the model application successful, constructive and, above all, theoretically oriented more than it had been within the urban planning discipline and practice in the past. Also, through systematic literature review covering Deutsch’ work in 1951 until today, the paper theoretically studied urban modeling and periodically classified them.Conclusion: Based on the critical review, we found that a new definition of urban models is needed to tie them to theories and phenomena. Furthermore, models are not tools in serve of theories anymore. In addition, papers’ results introduce urban modeling as an expertise rather than an instrumental skill.
