چکیده
|
The knoevenagel condensation of malononitrile or ethylcyanoacetate with different aldehydes, using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate [bmim][oac] in an aqueous medium, was successfully done. this proposed approach offers several advantages, such as economy, short reaction time, eco-friendly and environmentally benign reaction medium, simple workup, recyclability of the ionic liquid, accelerated reaction rate, and high yields (90-97%). the resulting knoevenagel adducts (3c-f, 3l-q) were further evaluated for their antimicrobial activity.
