|
A small molecule library of biphenyl carboxylic acids was synthesized and characterized by interpretation of 1h-nmr, 13c-nmr, mass, and ir spectral data. the synthetic approach involved well-known suzuki-miyaura coupling catalysed by pd (0), utilizing various substituted boronic acids. the new molecules were screened for their in vitro anticancer activity against mcf-7 and mda-mb-231 breast cancer cells, by taking tamoxifen as standard reference. benzyloxy compound 3j displayed potent activity against both the cell lines with ic50 value of 9.92 ± 0.97 µm against mcf-7 and 9.54 ± 0.85 µm against mda-mb-231 cell when compared to tamoxifen. the other compound 3a with substituents were absent presented good activity with ic50 value of 10.14 ± 2.05 µm against mcf-7 and 10.78 ± 2.58 µm against mda-mb-231. the potent molecule 3j tested in silico against crystal structure of estrogen receptor alpha revealed promising binding interactions with notable binding energy.
