تحلیل روند و ویژگی‌های جنگ تحمیلی عراق علیه ایران با تاکید بر بنیان‌های جغرافیای نظامی

جنگ تحمیلی عراق علیه ایران که حدود هشت سال به طول انجامید، گستره‌ای به مساحت بیش از 1600 کیلومتر را دربر گرفت و یکی از بزرگ‌ترین جنگ‌های قرن بیستم را رقم زد. پهنه عملیاتی این جنگ از ویژگی‌های گوناگون جغرافیای انسانی و طبیعی برخوردار بود و انواع مختلف عملیات نظامی در آن انجام گرفت. جدا از گستره جغرافیایی، این جنگ از ویژگی‌های دیگری نیز برخوردار بود؛ در آغاز جنگ، یکی از طرفین در دوران گذار از یک انقلاب مردمی و دیگری در دوران ثبات و آرامش بود. همچنین، در حالی که یکی از طرفین جنگ از پشتیبانی نسبی جهانی برخوردار بود، دیگری همزمان رویاروی بخش زیادی از جامعه جهانی قرار گرفته بود. در این وضعیت، پیروزی نظامی در جبهه‌های جنگ، مستلزم پیروی درست از اصول جنگی، از جمله در نظر گرفتن اصول جغرافیای نظامی بود. بررسی و تحلیل دقیق‌تر روند جنگ، میزان پیروی روند جنگ از بنیان‌های جغرافیای نظامی را در هر دو جبهه روشن می‌کند. مقاله حاضر، با برشمردن ویژگی‌های عملیات نظامی طرفین جنگ، کاربست اصول کلی جغرافیای نظامی را از سوی هر کدام از طرف‌های درگیر، بررسی و تحلیل کرده است.

An Analysis of the Trend and the Characteristics of the IranIraq War With an Emphasis on the Foundations on which Military Geography Has Been Built

The IranIraq war, which lasted about eight years, covered an area more than 1600 kilometers, triggered one of the greatest wars of the twentieth Century. The operational scope of this war covered different characteristics of human and natural geography within which different types of military operations took place. Apart from the geographical area, this war had different characteristics as well. At the outset of the war, one side was making a transition into a peopleled revolution, while the other was in a state of stability and peace. Also, while one side enjoyed the relative supports of the world, the other was being confronted by large parts of the international community. It was in such a situation that military victory required principles of war, not to mention the principles of military geography to be implemented properly and taken into account. A more exact analysis of how the war proceeded, casts a light on the extent to which the foundation principles of military geography had been followed in both fronts. This article tries to analyze the way the general principles of military operations were applied by either side engaged in the war by enumerating the characteristics of military operations launched by the two sides.
