ایران و مساله هرات و قندهار در دورۀ قاجار (طی سال‌های 1856-1794 م.)

با روی کار آمدن قاجارها بر مسند قدرت، تعاملات و منازعات ایران با افغانستان وارد مرحله جدیدی شد. این پژوهش به بررسی چرائی تمرکز، توجه و نوع نگاه پادشاهان قاجار به افغانستان با تکیه بر روش توصیفی تحلیلی پرداخته است. می‌توان گفت که پادشاهان قاجار از آغاز زمامداری توجه ویژه‌ای به افغانستان داشتند. پژوهش حاضر به بررسی علل آن اختصاص دارد. یافته‌ها نشان می‌دهد که تا زمان جدایی افغانستان از ایران، دولت قاجاریه با سه انگیزه به آن منطقه توجه داشت: 1) نگاه سیاسی حاصل از کوشش برای احیاء امپراتوری صفویه با هدف کسب اقتدار و مشروعیت سیاسی؛ 2) نگاه مذهبی فرهنگی برای دفاع از مسلمانان و به ویژه شیعیان در برابر امیران ستمگر افغانستان با هدف کسب اقتدار و مشروعیت مذهبی؛ 3) نگاه امنیتی به سبب تهدیدهای قبایل افغان برای جدایی‌طلبی از ایران با هدف حفظ وحدت قلمرو سرزمینی ایران

Qajar Iran and the Question of Herat and Kandahar (17941856 A.D)

The Qajar ascent to throne in Iran took IranAfghanistan interactions and conflicts to a new level. Relying on DescriptiveAnalytical method, the current article seeks to find reasons as to why the Qajar kings were bent on the question of Afghanistan. It is safe to say that from the beginning of their rule until Iran’s renouncing of sovereignty over Afghanistan the Qajar rulers paid special attention to this question on account of three reason: 1) Political ambitions based on a grand strategy to reconstitute the Safavid Empire in a bid to gain authority and political legitimacy, 2) Religious and cultural attitude aimed at defending  the Shiites against the oppressive Emirs of Afghanistan in an effort to gain religious authority and legitimacy, and 3) Security concerns caused by the threat of the secessionist tendencies of Afghan tribes in order to protect the territorial integrity of Iran.
