رقابت‌های نفتی دولت‌های غربی در ایران و ماجرای قتل رابرت ایمبری

موضوع نفت در تحولات تاریخی ایران طی یکصد سال اخیر و رقابت‌های نفتی دولت‌های غربی به ویژه انگلستان، در ایران اهمیت خاص دارد. همزمان با رقابت‌های گسترده سیاسی و اقتصادی آمریکا و انگلستان در ایران بر سرکسب امتیازات نفتی، رابرت ایمبری کنسولیار سفارت آمریکا در ایران به قتل رسید. در باره این واقعه، دیدگاه های گوناگونی مطرح شده است. برخی کوشیده‌اند ماجرا را تنها به عقاید عوام ربط دهند و برخی دیگر آن را ناشی از رقابت سیاسی دولت‌های غربی در ایران می‌دانند. با این حال، بررسی اسناد و مدارک موجود نشان می‌دهد که شرکت نفت ایران و انگلیس در نقش محرک در این ماجرا دست داشته است. این تحقیق با رویکردی توصیفی و تحلیلی و پس از بررسی ماهیت رقابت‌های سیاسی غرب در ایران بر سر مساله نفت، در پی پاسخ به این سوال است: رقابت‌های نفتی آمریکا و انگلستان تا چه حد در واقعه قتل ایمبری نقش داشت؟ فرض غالب بر این است که رقابت‌های موجود بر سر امتیاز جدید نفت در ایران، انگلستان را که مدعی نفت شمال ایران بود، واداشت تا با قتل ایمبری، طرف آمریکایی را از صحنه رقابت کنار بزند.

Rivalry of Western States over Oil in Iran and the Murder of Robert Imbrie

The issues of oil and oil rivalry among western states particularly Britain has great importance in the historical development of Iran in the recent century. As the intensive Anglo American political and economic rivalry was growing over winning oil concessions in Iran, Robert Imbrie an American Consulate Associate of U.S Embassy in Tehran was murdered. Several points of view have been adopted about this incident. Some have tried to link it to religious beliefs of the public and others find it as a consequence of western states rivalry in Iran.  Nevertheless, the existing proofs and documents show that Anglo Persian Oil Company had a stimulating role in this incident. Taking a descriptive and analytical approach, this study will examine the nature of rivalry among Western States over oil in Iran will look for the answer to the following question:What was the role of AngloAmerican Rivalry in Murdering of Robert Imbrie? It is presumed that Britain Government, which assumed exclusive rights for itself for Northern Iran oil tried to drive out U.S from the field of rivalry by murdering Imbrie.
