Authors Borjlu Ahmad ,Bayati Hadi ,Sangsefidi Mehdi
Abstract    Drawing upon Ottoman historical sources the article seeks to study the IranOttoman relations during the second half of the 18th century. As his main objective the author has sought to analyze the buildup to and the reasons for the IranOttoman wars and the siege and occupation of Basra. It is not surprising, however, that the Turk authors have proven to be quite sympathetic to the Ottomans, and have taken a harshe stance on Karim Khan Zand; thus, a belligerent image of him and the Zand Government has been painted accusing him of the instigator of the conflict between Iran and the Ottomans. Whereas according to the Ottoman and Iranian sources of the Zand Period, the Ottomans’ deeds and the malevolent actions on the part of their agents in Iraq created the hostile atmosphere between the two sides.
