The Relationship Between Iranian English Language Instructors’ Pedagogical Competences and Their Personal and Professional Background

It is widely accepted that efl teachers’ pedagogical competence improves their teaching performance, which itself plays a key role in facilitating and enhancing student learning. the present study investigated the relationship between iranian english language instructors’ pedagogical competences and their personal and professional backgrounds. in so doing, the construct validity of an initial 33closedended questionnaire comprising four constructs of pedagogical competence, namely teaching attitudes, teaching skills, assessment strategies, and knowledge mastery was established through exploratory factor analysis was after being administered to 175 university instructors in gilan, iran. next, to measure the relationship among the instructors’ personal and occupational characteristics, namely age, gender, fields of study and university degrees with the constructs of pedagogical competence, the newly validated questionnaire was administered to 48 practicing university instructors at islamic azad and state universities. it was revealed that there were positive correlations among the constructs of teaching attitudes, teaching skills, assessment strategies, and knowledge mastery. moreover, the results revealed significant positive correlations (strong, moderate, or low) among the four constructs concerning the instructors’ gender, age, fields, and degree of study. pedagogically, as teaching quality is a crucial factor in promoting effective learning, it would be truly beneficial if the instructors’ perceptions of pedagogical competence are known for the purpose of making educational developments.

میزان همبستگی بین صلاحیتهای آموزشی مربیان EFL ایرانی و پیشینه شخصی و حرفه ای آنها

کاملا مشخص است که توانش آموزشی نقش اساسی در بهبود عملکرد معلمان زبان خارجی دارد که منجر به تسهیل و تقویت یادگیری در دانش آموزان می شود. مقاله حاضر به بررسی رابطه توانش های آموزشی مدرسین زبان انگلیسی ایرانی و سوابق شخصی و حرفه ای آنها پرداخته است. به همین منظور، روایی پرسشنامه اولیه 33 سوالی شامل چهار شایستگی آموزشی ، یعنی نگرش تدریس ، مهارت تدریس ، راهبردهای ارزیابی و تسلط دانش از طریق تحلیل عاملی اکتشافی به دست آمد که در میان 185مدرس دانشگاه در گیلان ، ایران اجرا شد. در مرحله بعد ، برای سنجش ارتباط ویژگی های شخصیتی و شغلی مدرسان ، از جمله سن ، جنس ، رشته تحصیلی و مدرک دانشگاه با ساختارهای توانش حرفه ای ، پرسشنامه تازه تأیید شده در میان 48 مدرس دانشگاه در دانشگاه های آزاد و دولتی توزیع شد. بر اساس تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها ، بین کلیه توانش های آموزشی مدرسین همبستگی مثبت وجود داشت. علاوه بر این ، نتایج نشان داد که در بین چهار ساختار با توجه به سوابق شخصی و شغلی مدرسین همبستگی مثبت (قوی ، متوسط یا پایین) وجود داشت. از لحاظ آموزشی، از آنجا که کیفیت تدریس معلم عامل مهمی در ارتقاء یادگیری اثربخش است، لازم ومفید خواهد بود اگر دیدگاه مدرسان نسبت به مهارتهای آموزشی به منظور ایجاد تحولات آموزشی شناخته شوند.
