Arabic letters to the Moravians from Coptic christians

While working in egypt,the moravians established contacts with the patriarch of the coptic orthodox church and especially with patriarch marcos vii (1745-1769). this paper gives a short introduction to the interactions between the moravians,who settled in egypt from 1749 to 1783,and an overview to the forthcoming edition of the sources of the archive in hermhut (the first volume is already in press),that gives new insights into the situation of europeans in egypt in the 18th century before the arrival of napoleon and his army. special attention will be paid to a few aspects of the arabic letters,written from coptic authors.
