Significant clinical reperfusion and reduction of ST segment in the patients of acute myocardial infarction after administration of streptokinase

Aim: to analyze the successful clinical reperfusion i.e.,more than or 50% reduction of st segment elevation and significant relief of chest pain,with streptokinase in relation to onset of symptoms and time of initiation of therapy methods: 100 patients of ami were collected for this study; ecg was done in every patient before streptokinase,mid streptokinase and post streptokinase. st segment elevation was recorded in millimeters and compared with reduction in st segment in post streptokinase ecg and percentage of reduction was measured. relief of pain (a 5 point reduction on 1 to 10 subjective scale was recorded. results: in our study the mean age of the patients was 55.46+/-10.88 years the mean time between onset of chest pain and administration of streptokinase was 178.50+/-111.01 minutes. the mean percentage of reduction in st elevation was 43.27+/- percent. the mean time taken after sk to relief of chest pain was 153.85+/-86.33minutes. conclusion: early administration of streptokinase from onset of chest pain in ami patients leads to significant clinical reperfusion and reduction in st segment and relief of chest pain.
