The occurrence of type-D personality in doctors' community

Aim: to know the occurrence of type-d personality amongst the doctor's community methods: type-d personality,social inhibition (si) and negative affectivity (na) is assessed by ds14; a 14 item,5 point scale: ranging from 0(false) to 4 (true) in this study. two hospitals of lahore were included; one a secondary care and the other a tertiary care hospital. 36 doctors on duty at the time of study were included who consented for participation in this research. the participants were categorized on the basis of having negative affectivity and social inhibition score more or equal to 10 and hence labeled as type-d personality. the data was analyzed on spss version 20 results: the data analyzed on spss version 20 showed that 13.8% of males below the age 30 and 61.66 % above age 30 scored more or equal to 10 on both social inhibition and negative affectivity and hence were labeled as type-d personality positive. those who scored less than 10 on both these sub-cores were labeled as type-d negative. the pearson's correlation between social inhibition,negative affectivity and type-d personality was highly significant. social inhibition was found to be more in the males and negative affectivity more in females; with type-d personality. the cumulative scores for both the males and females were 97.2% for na and 66.7% for si out of sample population.
