   Evaluation of the Cell Biology (Cytology) Laboratory course according to the students' views [Hücre biyolojisi (sitoloji) laboratuvar dersinin öǧrenci görüşlerine göre deǧerlendirilmesi]

چکیده    In this study,the problems of laboratory applications in biology teaching,with special reference to cellular biology,are dealt with. the research population consist of the students of gazi university gazi faculty of education biololgy teaching program in the 2006-2007 academic year; and the subjects of this study are 105 students from the 2nd,3rd,4th and 5th grades. three instruments were used in this study: a scanning model to analyze the current status of the cellular biology laboratory; a questionnaire of 35 items for data collection; and three open-ended questions. the questionnaire was constructed in the form of licert scale of triple options. frequences (f) and percentage (%) were calculated in data analyses. the results reveal that the expected objectives have not been met and that the course has not made sufficient contribution to the teaching skills of the students. it is supposed that the lessons are not hold as desired due to the insufficiency of the laboratory equipment. the students believe that the course is necessary and useful,but that it should be upgraded and handled accordingly. the students overwhelmingly agreed to the suggestions provided to them. in this study,with the answers to the open ended questions,the students' deeper opinions were also gathered.
