Comparison of McGrath 5 videolaryngoscope and Macintosh laryngoscope in endotracheal intubation success and its effect on hemodynamic changes [McGrath 5 V̄deolaringoskop ile macintosh laringoskopun entübasyon başarisi ve hemodinamik yanit üzerine etkilerinin karşilaştirilmasi]

Objective: we aim to compare the intubation success and hemodynamic changes between the mcgrath series 5 videolaryngoscope and the macintosh laryngoscope. method: this randomized,prospective study included 80 patients,with american society of anesthesiologists (asa) scores i-ii and aged 18-45,who underwent elective surgery. patients were randomly divided into two groups: group i and group ii. in group i,the patients were intubated with the macintosh laryngoscope,and in group ii,the patients were intubated with a mcgrath 5 videolaiyngoscope. patients' their c-l scores,intubation time,number of intubation trial,facilitating manoeuveres and techniques,haemodynamic parameters and complications were recorded. results: airway assesment measurements and number of intubation trials were similar between groups. intubation time in group i was significantly shorter than group ii (p=0.024). when required facilitating manoeuveres and complications of patients were compared,there was a significant difference between groups. (p=0.032,p=0.018). comparing the intubation related complications revealed more tooth and lip injury in group i (p=0.018). conclusion: the mcgrath series 5 video laryngoscope provides excellent views during orotracheal intubation also provides less facilitating manoeuveres and techniques required and less complications for succesful intubation.
