The retrospecti̇ve comparison of isobaric bupivacaine and isobaric levobupivacaine in one-sided spinal anesthesia for arthroscopic surgery [Artroskopi̇k di̇z cerrahi̇si̇nde tek tarafli spi̇nal anestezi̇de i̇zobari̇k bupi̇vakai̇n ve i̇zobari̇k levobupi̇vakai̇ni̇n retrospekti̇f karşilaş tirilmasi]

Objective: the aim of this study was to compare the anesthetic and hemodynamic effects of bupivacaine and levobupivacaine on the patients who undergo one-sided spinal anesthesia for knee arthroscopy,retrospectively. material and methods: a total of 61 patients with ages between 18 and 60 who had elective lower extremity arthroscopy operation between january 2007 and december 2010 were included in the study. their asa category was i-ii. the patients were randomly divided into two groups as follows; group i; isobaric bupivacaine 7.5 mg. and group ii; isobaric levobupivacaine 7.5 mg. the sensorial and motor blocks were evaluated according to pinprick and bromage scores. the starting time and duration of sensorial,motor and maximum sensorial block was recorded in both groups and compared statistically. results: there was not a statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of age,gender,operation duration,and asa score (p> 0.05). the starting times of sensorial and motor blocks and the duration of these blocks were longer in bupivacaine group (p< 0.05). the bromage score and maximum sensorial block levels were similar in both groups (p> 0.05). in group i,maximum sensorial block level was t8,in group ii,it was t10,(p>0.05). when group i and ii were considered separately,heart rate and mean arterial pressure were statistically different in each group (p< 0.05). conclusions: the hemodynamic effects of bupivacaine and levobupivacaine were found similar during arthroscopic surgery,but motor and sensorial block durations were found significantly shorter in levobupivacaine group. as a consequence,this should be taken into consideration in surgery planning and the usage of levobupivacaine in day surgery anesthesia can be suggested as an alternative to bupivacaine.
