The case of tonic clonic seizure depending on low-dose prilocaine infiltration: Case report and literature review [Düşük doz pri̇lokai̇n i̇nfi̇ltrasyonuna baǧli olarak oluşan toni̇k kloni̇k konvülzi̇yon vakasi: Olgu sunumu ve li̇teratürün gözden geçi̇ri̇lmesi̇]

Local anesthetics are frequently used in daily operations. real allergic reactions are rare with local anesthetics,but toxic reactions are more common. these toxic reactions occur in central nervous and cardiovascular systems. forty-four years-old patient who had no particular situation in systemic examination and laboratory tests was accepted to the orthopaedics and traumatology clinic with the diagnosis of right lateral epicondylitis. tonic clonic convulsion which occurred after prilocaine infiltration anesthesia applied for ablation (micro debridement) surgery was discussed along with the literature on this issue. among the side effects of prilocaine,there are numbness around tongue and mouth,anxiety,tinnitus,seizure and cardiac arrest. in the turkish and english literatures,there is no complication as tonic clonic convulsion related to prilokain. since central nervous system toxicity occurs with all local anesthetics depending on the dose,the importance of this case report is the occurrence of convulsion with very low dose in this infiltration anesthesia. we conclude that the availability of anticonvulsant drugs and resuscitation conditions will be safe during local anethesia although,the occurence of convulsions related to the local anesthetics as prilocaine is clinically an extraordinary situation.
