The introduction of small and portable ultrasounds which have transthoracic echocardiography (tte) property,has enabled the anesthesiologists to use them for the assessment of the patients in the intensive care and perioperative care units. therefore,tte has started to be used for early diagnosis,treatment and follow-up of pathology and complications in the perioperative period. perioperative transthoracic echocardiography provides information about preload,myocardial and ventricular function,valvular diseases,and vegetations,cardiac tamponed,aortic dissection and pulmonary embolism. hence,anesthesiologists should have information about the tte to cope with the problems faced in the perioperative period.
