Abstract    background and objectives:heavy metal contamination in ecosystems is a significant environmental concern that requires attention. the purpose of this study was to assess the health risks associated with heavy metals in two species of fish, perch, and zalon, found along the souther n coast of the caspian sea.materials and methods:in this research, the samples were perch and bream fish from four regions of sari, noor, chalus and ramsar in mazandaran province in 1401 . also, the heavy metals studied in this study were lead, cadmium, cobalt, arsenic and chromium. at the time of sampling, 2 of each fish were caught. the fish samples were first washed with double distilled water in the laboratory. in the next stage, their length was measured with a biometry board with an accuracy of 1 mm and their weight with a digital scale with an accuracy of 0.01 . after that, each of them was placed in separate sterile plastic bags and numbered. then, 20 30 grams were removed from the upper part of the fish body (under the dorsal fin) with a ceramic kn ife and transferred to completely clean containers (washed with nitric acid). the tissues were placed in an oven at 90 degrees for 24 hours for the drying process.results:in this study, based on the results of the daily and weekly intakeassessment and the non carcinogenic risk potential, these species do notpose any risk. however, regarding heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, cobalt, arsenic, and chromium, long term cons umption may increase thelikelihood of developing various types of cancers cancers.conclusion:health risk assessment results indicate that daily and weeklyconsumption of these two species does not pose any health concerns forconsumers. furthermore, all sample s showed a non carcinogenic hazardpotential below 1 , meaning their consumption carries no risk ofnon cancerous diseases. however, the carcinogenic risk potential for certain heavy metals exceeded acceptable thresholds, suggesting thatlong term consump tion of these fish may increase the risk of developingvarious types of cancer.
