explanation of the spiritual experiences of breast cancer patients: a hermeneutic phenomenological study

Background and objectives: breast cancer is associated with unique changes and experiences in all physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of one’s life. in this regard, the present study aimed to investigate the spiritual experiences of breast cancer patients. methods: this qualitative study was conducted using a hermeneutic phenomenological approach. in total, 20 eligible breast cancer patients were selected, through maximum variation and purposive sampling method, from the oncology ward of shahid beheshti hospital in qom, iran in 2019. the required data were collected using semi-structured in-depth interviews which lasted between 50-75 min. the collected data were analyzed using the six-step van manen method. results: after the data analysis, the main theme of the spiritual experience of the patients was return to the holy. this theme included spiritual beliefs and attitudes, spiritual growth and excellence, spiritual support, and restoration of the power of life. conclusion: according to the lived experiences of the participants of this study, breast cancer highlights the spiritual aspect of one’s life and the tendency towards spirituality. therefore, the healthcare team can use the findings of this study to develop educational plans and provide spirituality-based services to breast cancer patients.

تبیین تجارب معنوی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان پستان: یک مطالعه پدیده شناسی

چکیدهمقدمه و هدف: ابتلاء به سرطان پستان همراه با تغییرات و تجارب منحصر به فرد در تمام ابعاد جسمی، روانی، اجتماعی و معنوی افراد می­باشد. هدف این مطالعه، تبیین تجارب معنوی بیماران مبتلا به سرطان پستان بود. روش ها : یک مطالعه کیفی با رویکرد پدیده شناسی انجام شد. 20 بیمار مبتلا به سرطان پستان که معیارهای ورود به مطالعه را داشتند، به صورت هدفمند از بخش انکولوژی بیمارستان شهید بهشتی قم انتخاب شدند. داده ها با استفاده از مصاحبه های عمیق نیمه ساختارمند انفرادی در مدت زمان بین 50 تا 75 دقیقه جمع آوری شد. برای تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها از روش شش گام Van manen استفاده شد.یافته ها: در جریان تجزیه و تحلیل داده ها، مضمون اصلی تجربه معنوی بیماران رجعت به سوی امر قدسیبدست آمد. این مضمون شامل؛ باورها و نگرش معنوی، رشد و تعالی معنوی، حمایت معنوی و پیوند دوباره به نیروی زندگی بود.نتیجه­ گیری: تجارب مشارکت کنندگان این مطالعه نشان داد؛ ابتلا به سرطان پستان موجب پررنگ شدن بعد معنوی و گرایش افراد به معنویت می ­شود. لذا دست اندرکاران تیم درمان می توانند با استفاده از یافته ­های این مطالعه در برنامه ریزی آموزشی و ارائه خدمات معنویت محور به بیماران با سرطان پستان استفاده کنند. واژه‌های کلیدی: سرطان پستان، تجربه زیسته، پدیده‌شناسی
