Thoughts on the Period of National Literature, Nationalistic Literature and Concept of National Literature

“the period of national literature” is generally accepted as the name of a literary process beginning with the publication of the journal genç kalemler in 1911 to 1923 in which turkish literature during the republican era emerged. the outstanding representatives of this movement are mehmed emin yurdakul, ömer seyfettin, ali canip yöntem and ziya gökalp. apart from this periodic perception there are two different concepts called “nationalist/turkic literature” and “the concept of national literature”. all these concepts are intertwined and sometimes confused each other. in this article we will try to evaluate those concepts in respect to basic characteristics and nature of meaning.
