Agile Manufacturing and An Investigation on the Agility of Manufacturing Smes Operating in Erzurum

In this study, after explaining the agile manufacturing system and the basic principles behind, it was aimed to determine the adoption level of the basic principles of agile manufacturing system in smes operating in erzurum. for this purpose, a questionnaire was prepared. as of march 2012, a survey was conducted onexecutives of 133 businesses recorded in kosgeb (small and medium enterprises development organization) and tobb (the union of chambers and commodity exchanges of turkey) databases. the data were analyzed using spss 13.0 and the results were interpreted. the study, demonstratethatthevastmajority of erzurum operate in thefoodindustry. it was observed that smes respondto changing market conditions and customer expectations, employees are immediately informed about decision s taken and sme simplement the knowledge gained about changes in the competitive environment to their own systems guickly and effectively.also ,it wasrealized that these organizations are effective when their agility is examined from different aspects.
