بررسی نسبت رسانه‌های اجتماعی و سطح سکولاریسم در غرب آسیا و شمال آفریقا

سکولاریسم یکی از مفاهیم مدرنیته است که برخاسته از اندیشه، فرهنگ و تحولات قرون اخیر مغرب زمین است، در جوامع مدرن امروزی، سکولاریسم نقش مهمی در تفکیک نهادهای دینی از نهادهای سیاسی و اجرایی ایفا می‌کند. این امر موجب می‌شود تا حقوق و آزادی‌های اساسی شهروندان بدون توجه به گرایشات مذهبی آن‌ها تضمین شود؛ اما در حال راه یابی به سایر مناطق جهان است. یکی از مناطقی که در دهه های اخیر به نظر می رسد تحت تاثیر سکولاریسم قرارگرفته، جهان عرب است که برخی از محققان نقش اینترنت و رسانه های اجتماعی در این امر را پررنگ می دانند. با عنایت به موارد فوق این پژوهش به شیوه تحلیل ثانویه به بررسی تاثیر رسانه های اجتماعی بر روی تمایل شهروندان عرب به سکولاریسم، بر اساس داده های موج vii (2021-2022) عرب بارومتر می پردازد. نتایج این پژوهش که بر اساس داده های 12 کشور غرب آسیا و شمال آفریقا شامل 12 کشور الجزایر، مصر، عراق، اردن، کویت، لبنان، لیبی، موریتانی، مراکش، فلسطین، سودان و تونس و با حجم نمونه 26154 نفر به دست آمده است، نشان می دهد که رسانه های اجتماعی به طور معنی داری باعث افزایش تمایل شهروندان عرب به سکولاریسم می شود. همچنین آزمون های تفکیکی حاکی از آن است که نقش اینستاگرام در افزایش تمایل به سکولاریسم، پررنگ تر از بقیه رسانه های اجتماعی بود.

investigating the proportion of social media and the level of secularism in west asia and north africa

secularism is one of the concepts of modernity that emerged from the thought, culture, and developments of recent centuries in the west. in today’s modern societies, secularism plays a crucial role in separating religious institutions from political and executive institutions, ensuring the basic rights and freedoms of citizens regardless of their religious orientations. this concept is now spreading to other parts of the world. one region that has shown signs of being influenced by secularism in recent decades is the arab world. some researchers attribute this shift to the significant role of the internet and social media. this research aims to explore the impact of social media on arab citizens’ inclination towards secularism, utilizing data from wave vii (2021-2022) of the arab barometer through secondary analysis. the study, based on data from 12 countries in west asia and north africa, including algeria, egypt, iraq, jordan, kuwait, lebanon, libya, mauritania, morocco, palestine, sudan, and tunisia, involved a sample size of 26,154 individuals. the findings suggest that social media plays a significant role in increasing arab citizens’ support for secularism. furthermore, specific tests reveal that instagram has a more pronounced effect on promoting secular tendencies compared to other social media platforms.
