Determination of some morphological characteristics and qualities of seedlings obtained from different walnut (Juglans regia ) varieties in polybag containers

This study was carried out to determine growth performance and to assess morphological characteristics, morphological ratios and also qualities of walnut (juglans regia l.) seedlings grown in polybag containers obtained from seeds of pedro, fernor, fernette, franquette, chandler and kaman 1 varieties. germination ratios, emergence times of seeds and death ratios of seedlings were determined. morphological characteristics of seedlings including root collar diameter, shoot length, main tap root length and root, shoot and total seedling biomass values were determined. morphological ratios used to evaluate seedling quality such as root/shoot, shoot/root and sturdiness quotient and dickson quality index values were calculated. germination rates and emergence times of seeds of varieties were found statistically different. root, shoot and total seedling biomass values, root/shoot, shoot/root morphological ratios, sturdiness quotient and dickson quality index values of seedlings were found statistically different.
