   Relationships Between Number of Somatic Cells and Linear Udder Characteristics in Saanen x Hair Crossbred Goats

چکیده    In this study, relationships between the number of somatic cells and linear udder characteristics in saanen x hair goat f1 crossbred were reviewed. research data were obtained from 47 heads of saanen x hair crossbred goat. linear scoring was made for teat placement, udder depth, degree of separation and degree of suspension of the udder characteristics, and these values were identified as 6.68, 6.23, 5.30 and 6.28 respectively. in terms of linear udder characteristics, positive correlation (0.678) was found between udder depth and degree of suspension of the udder whereas negative correlation (-0.493) was found between udder depth and degree of separation (p<0.01). somatic cell count in the reviewed raw milk samples were found 38.000 cell/ml at minimum and 3.370.000 cell/ml at maximum level. 41 (14.5%) of the obtained 282 milk samples in total are below 100.000 whereas 178 of them (63.1%) are between 100.000-250.000, 46 (16.3%) are between 250.000-500.000 and 17 (6.1%) are 500.000 and above. in terms of scc, the differences observed between the periods were not considered important. it was found that real scc in goats' milk varied between 90.400 - 858.000 cell/ml, geometric mean scc varied between 89.072 and 400.875 cell/ml and log 10 scc varied between 5.19-5.30. a negative correlation was identified between somatic cell count and udder depth (p<0.05) and udder connection level (p<0.01). the importance of evaluating the udder structure used in breeding dairy goats beside acceptable goat milk somatic cell count, there are requirements to develop standards.
