واکاوی نقش مقامات آمریکایی در ترغیب صدام به جنگ با ایران در شهریور1359/ سپتامبر 1980

تهاجم نظامی عراق به ایران در سپتامبر1980 و در آخرین ماه‌های ریاست جمهوری کارتر آغاز گردید. نبرد مذکور مهمترین جنگ پس از جنگ دوم جهانی و طولانی‌ترین جنگ در قرن بیستم لقب یافت، که در اوج سال‌های جنگ سرد در منطقه‌ی خلیج فارس به وقوع پیوست که مسلماً با توجه به طرف‌های درگیر درآن، آمریکا نمی‌توانست نسبت به آن بی‌تفاوت باشد. (روش): این پژوهش با استفاده از روش تحلیلی-توصیفی، مواضع مقامات آمریکایی را در آغاز تهاجم نظامی عراق به ایران مورد ارزیابی قرار داده است. و با بررسی عناصر و متغیرهای متعدد تاثیرگذار در آن مقطع زمانی، (مساله): به طرح این سئوال می‌پردازدکه، سهم مقامات آمریکایی در این رویکرد عراق چه بود. با رصد اوضاع بین المللی این فرضیه شکل می‌گیرد که روابط پنهانی و پشت پرده امریکا و عراق دلیل اصلی اتخاذ چنین اقدامی بود. (یافته‌ها): نتایج بدست آمده حاکی از آن است که آمریکا درتشویق و ترغیب رژیم عراق به آغاز جنگ با ایران تاثیر زیادی داشت. زیرا آنها بر این باور بودند، که با در تنگنا قرار دادن ایران، راهی جز عدول از مواضع انقلابی، و همگرایی با آمریکا، یا سقوط حکومت، انتخاب دیگری نخواهد داشت. بر این مبنا حمله‌ی نظامی عراق به ایران، سناریویی امریکایی بود که در راستای منافع آن کشور طراحی و اجرا گردید.

iraq’s military invasion of iran took place in september 1980 and in the last months of carter’s presidency. the said battle was called the most important war after world war ii and the longest war in the 20th century, which took place at the height of the cold war in the persian gulf region.and certainly considering the parties involved in it, america could not be indifferent to it.(method): using analytical-descriptive methods, this research has evaluated the positions of american officials at the beginning of iraq’s military invasion of iran. and by examining the many influencing elements and variables at that point in time, (issue): it raises the question, what was the role of the american authorities in this action of iraq? by observing the international situation, this hypothesis is formed that the secret and behind-the-scene relations between america and iraq was the main reason. (findings): the obtained results indicate that america had a great influence in encouraging and persuading the iraqi regime to start a war with iran. because they believed that by putting iran in a tight spot, it will have no other choice but to deviate from revolutionary positions and converge with america, or the fall of the government. on this basis, iraq’s military attack on iran was an american scenario that was designed and executed in line with the interests of that country.
