The eye health literacy scale

Purpose: to create a scale that measures eye health literacy. material and method: this study is a methodological study on patients who applied to the ophthalmology clinic of pamukkale university faculty of medicine. the sample size of the study was accepted to be approximately 250 which may be 10 times the number of items. after giving information about the study and obtaining written consent, the questionnaire form prepared before the examination was applied. subsequently, the reliability of the scale, coverage validity, compliance indexes were calculated. result: five items with high load (more than 0.40) were removed from the scale in two factors. factor analysis was performed again with the remaining 20 items. as a result of kaiser-meyer olkin (kmo) and barlett tests, the kaiser-meyer olkin (kmo) coefficient was found to be 0.944 and the barlett test was significant (p<0.001). when the compliance indices of the model obtained by confirmatory factor analysis are examined; the value of x2/df less than 3 shows acceptable compliance and value of cfi (0.97) and rmsea(root mean square error of approximation) (0.076) show that is a good compliance. when any of the items in the scale are excluded, the cronbach α values ranged from 0.938 to 0.953. the time invariance of the scale was assessed at three-week intervals and there was a significant positive correlation (r=0.83) (p<0.001). conclusion: the eye health literacy scale developed in this study is a reliable and valid scale according to the results of the analysis.
