AN ANALYSIS OF STRUCTURAL TRANFORMATION AND THE LABOR MARKET IN TURKEY

This study examines the structural transformation in the turkish economy over the last thirty years and its repercussions in the labor market. first, a review of macroeconomic setting since the 1980s is presented, followed by its effects on the key labor market variables using time series data and international comparisons. in the last section, a number of policy measures against low labor force participation, high unemployment and informality rates to enable the country to cash its demographic dividend labor market is suggested.
