|
In the study devoted to the case of sevindik quarter in the city of denizli, changes in the gender stereotypes and role based social attitudes, expectations and role behaviours of the individuals depending on the period they spent in the city and how these changes differed according to gender groups have been analyzed. in the study, in which gender is employed as an analysis tool, gender role theory was used within structuralfunctional approach. using the questionnaire technique, on-site observation and in-depth interview, the study attempted to determine the factors that differentiate gender roles and kind of variations exhibited according to gender roles within the transformation that takes place on the axis of modernism-traditionalism. the findings of the research show that immigrant families, which purport to be the modern nuclear family, have a function which includes the relationships and specialities of patriarchal extended family/country family. economic and social changes that the immigrant family, which has the quality of transition family, undergoes make it closer to the city family and turns it into a sub-type or another extent of the city family.
