The aim of the study is to analyze the cursive writing studies of the first graders according to the variables of attending cursive writing classes and socioeconomic classes. 53 students who attended cursive writing classes (experimental group) and 60 students (control group) who did not attend a cursive writing class participated in the study. cursive writing skills, writing way, binding, writing rate, spelling and readability of the students’ writings, who were from low and middle socioeconomic classes, were evaluated in this study. in order to collect data, “rubric of cursive writing skill” was developed. the results of the study showed that the students in the experimental group, who attended cursive writing classes and were from middle socioeconomic class, were more successful. in this study, suggestions were made to develop cursive writing skill.
