|
The aim of the present study was to examine opinions of primary grade teachers’ about their instructional practices in handwriting. this study was performed on 56 primary grade teachers in the provincial centre of kırşehir in the spring semester of the academic year 2008-2009. the questionnaire form, including open-ended questions, was used in this study. the data obtained from this study, was analyzed in terms of qualitative paradigm. results indicated that primary grade teachers have positive attitude towards handwriting, they do drill and practice to prepare students prior to instruction of handwriting process, they only evaluate their students’ handwriting by controlling, they encounter some difficulties in teaching handwriting skills to their students, they get over these problems by working hard students with handwriting difficulties, they try to be model with regard to handwriting for their students, and they themselves seem sufficient to teach handwriting skills to their students.
