Tarih-i cevdet is the historian ahmet cevdet paşa’s most important book. the historical, social, economic, and cultural events that took place in the ottoman state from 1774 to 1826 were depicted in this book with a particular interest given to the leading figures of this era. cevdet paşa’s interest towards napoleon is very unique in itself that cannot be compared to any statesmen. therefore, this article attempts to analyse how cevdet paşa portrays napoleon as a personal and political figure with the information stated in tarih-i cevdet.
