Mineral Nutrient Status of Walnut Orchards in the Uşak Province

This study was conducted to determine mineral nutrient status of walnut orchards by soil and leaf analysis in uşak province. the analyses were made to determine ph, caco3, ec, texture, organic matter, available phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese and copper in soil samples and in addition to these elements nitrogen and boron were determined in leaf samples. by comparing the results of soil and leaf samples with threshold values, it was aimed to determine nutritional problems and nutrient element status of investigated orchards. according to the results, it has been found that the soils of experimental area were loamy (39%) and clay loam (57%) in texture. the soils did not had salinity problem. it was determined that 61% of the study area soils were problematic due to high carbonate content and soil ph range was neutral to slightly alkaline. organic matter contents of soils are medium levels. it was also found that 69, 78, 96 and 98% of walnut orchard soils had insufficient levels of phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and potassium, respectively. according to the results of leaf analysis, insufficient levels of minerals (phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper) were determined in 29%, 76%, 80%, 78%, 94% and 94% of walnut orchards, respectively.
