Correlation of Some Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) Genotypes Obtained by Cross Breeding

In breeding studies, it is of great importance to collect and identify data about agriculturally important characters to develop varieties with superior characteristics. in the selection process of breeding programs for the development of domestic potato varieties, the characteristics of the clones and their relationship with each other must be demonstrated. in this study, the data obtained from the first clonal selection stage conducted in tokat-artova and tokat-kazova locations in 2017 were used. in this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationships between features in the first clonal selection stage in the variation formed by hybridization between some local and registered potato varieties and superior clones. in the first clonal selection stage, data were obtained from each clone about phenotypic characteristics such as breeder preference, plant habitus, maturity group, tuber defects, skin roughness, skin and tuber flesh color as well as tuber number per hill, tuber yield per hill, average tuber weight, depth of eye and terminal bud characteristics of clones were determined by correlation analysis according to breeder preference score for each location and the most effective ones were determined. correlation analyses were made between selection criteria used in the first clonal generation and associations between characteristics were determined. thus, ıt was concluded that selection based on breeder preferences and marketable phenotypic properties related to marketing was reliable.
