Determination of Yield and Yield Components of Bread Wheat Genotypes Collected from Isparta and Burdur Locations

Purpose of this study was to determine the genetic diversity of bread wheat genotypes grown in isparta and burdur provinces, to protect valuable genotypes as a germplasm source and to take them into breeding programs. in the study, about 104 villages were visited and 72 wheat seed samples were collected from 45 different locations. a questionnaire was designed to collect information from farmers about the source of seed materials collected. according to the survey results, 5 commonly grown varieties (atay-85, gerek-79, bezostaja, cumhuriyet-75 and gün-91) and 23 genotypes of the 72 were selected to be tested in terms of agronomic characters. results showed that plant height ranged between 91.02-115.49 cm and local populations were taller. in bread wheat genotypes, spike height, number of grain per spike and weight of spike per grain were 8.05-10.50 cm, 21.00-47.74 and 0.76-1.94 g respectively. among wheat genotypes, days from heading to maturity ranged between 183.67-192.0 days and this was significantly longer than the control varieties. grain yield ranged between 209.02-363.86 kg/da and the some of the collected wheat genotypes had higher grain yield than control. as a result, classification and clustering analysis conducted on the basis of wheat variety/populations’ agronomic characteristics showed that neither of collected local genotypes were 100 % similar to the control varieties and the similarity rate was 69.80-93.94%. it was found that there was a variation among collected wheat genotypes and by using this variation it would be possible to develop new varieties.
