   Frequency of Congenital Anomalies Under 5 Year Old Child in the Rural Areas of A City in Mediterranean Region

چکیده    Objective: these factors are listed as main reasons in our country where consanguineous marriages are common, births begin at an early age and continue until the old ages, and antenatal care remains below the targeted level. material-method: objective of this study was to determine congenital anomalies in the universe of the children under five years of age and to define the possible risk factors. sample size was calculated through instat program and a total of 1140 children under five years of age who was living in rural areas of isparte were reached. the data were collected through a questionnaire administered on a relative of the children and by physical examination of the child and analyzed using chi-square, t-tests and logistic regression on the spss package software. results: prevalence of congenital anomalies was defined as 3,0% and frequency of disability as 1,4%. the most common congenital anomaly was defined as undescended testis. variables related to congenital anomalies were defined as being a boy (gender), working status of the mother, a problem was said the baby has in the controls performed during pregnancy, and a history of bruising after the birth. conclusion: in this study, prevalences of congenital anomalies and related factors determined in only rural areas were found compatible with literature. more studies should be performed in a wider areas.
