Brucellosis: retrorospectiveevaluation of 382 patients

Objective: brucellozis is commonly seen all over the world as well as in turkey and it is an important public health problem that causes serious economic loss. the aim of this study was to evaluate the epidemiological, clinical and laboratory findings of the patients with brucellosis. material–method:: for this study, 24343 patients’ files were examined retrospectively and 382 patients, who were serologically diagnosed, were subjected to this study. the age, sex, occupation, laboratory findings and clinical symptoms of 382 patients with rb (+) and sat 1/160 and over were investigated. results: the disease was detected in equal proportions in both sexes. the most cases were in the age range of 25–30 years, but the interval of 15 and 35 years of age comprised 59 percent of all our cases. the most common complaints of seropositive people were high fever (%93), weakness (%90), and muscular pain (% 80). when the haematological and biochemical parameters were researched, ast> 40 iu/lt % 47, alt >35iu %41, esr> 20 mm/hour % 63, crp >8 mg/dl % 85 were found. anemia was detected in % 11 of men and % 42 of women. discussion: the prevalence and demographic characteristics of brucellosis cases in isparta and in its neighbourhood appear to comply with the literature.
