Evaluation of the success and survival rates of different dental implants

Objective: in contemporary dentistry, implant therapy is being a routine treatment process as a result of increasing number of implant trademarks in the dental market and with a large number of scientific research. the aim of the present study was to evaluate the short-term survival and success rates of dental implants with different trademark. method: sixty-three patients with a total number of 161 dental implants inserted during the years of 2003-2009 were evaluated. the necessary radiographic examinations were carried out and technical complications were carefully examined. the present research was focused on clinical data regarding success, failure and prosthetic complications of the dental implants. results: the survival rate of the dental implants included in this study was found 96.2 %. success rate of the implants was 88.3 %. the rates of total complications and technical complications were 15.5 % and 11.8 %, respectively. discussion: in the present study, very high survival and success rates have been observed similar to the other studies in the dental literature. the most commonly observed prosthetic complications was de-cementation of the restorations more than once. further investigations are neededwith larger study groups to prevent the present complications and to determine the factors leading to those complications.
