Risk factors and responsibility of orthodontists

Orthodontic treatment, like any aspect of general dentistry, exposes the clinician to the risk of malpractice and litigation. the patient-orthodontist contact starts with a detailed informed consent at the beginning of the treatment, continues throughout the treatment and post-treatment periods. clinicians must be aware of potential risk factors in order to avoid malpractice and legal proceedings. armed with this knowledge, potential problems during orthodontic treatment, their prevention and legal aspects of orthodontic practice will be discussed in this review.
