Use of Simulation in Nursing Education: Opinions of Students

Objective: the purpose of this study is to determine the views of students who did or did not receive simulation training in nursing education. material-method: a total of 88 students who agreed to participate in the research of the researcher’s sample were created. as a data collection tool, a student identification form and a simulation training evaluation form developed by the researcher in order to determine the students’ opinions about the simulation education in the direction of the literature were used. analysis of the data was used number, percentage and chi-square analyzes. results: 86.4% of the students who did not have simulation laboratories in their universities stated that this situation adversely affected their professional skills, 63.6% stated that the models and materials in the existing laboratory were not enough and 93.2% stated that there would be differences in clinical practice among the students who are in the simulation laboratories in the university. it was found that there is a statistically difference in the field of surgical nursing and that the students in the university with the simulation laboratory are less required to the simulation training in this area than the other students when the opinions of the students with and without simulation laboratories in the universities are compared about the clinical areas which require simulation training. they gave similar answers to other areas. conclusions: the opinions of the students who received and did not receive simulation training were evaluated and both group students expressed their opinions about their problems. simulation training is an important training method in nursing education and it is suggested that universities without simulation labor should concentrate on other methods that they can use as standard patients as much as possible.
