The Test of the Effect of Tourism and Export Receipts on the Economic Growth in Turkey: Cointegration and Causality Analysis

In this study, the joint effect of exports and tourism receipts on economic growth is analyzed for turkey via cointegration method and causality analysis based on vector error correction model by using annual data of the export receipts, tourism receipts and gross domestic product for the period 1969-2009. the results of johansen cointegration test states that there is long-run relationship between export receipts, tourism receipts and economic growth. in addition, error correction model shows that there is only one-way causality from export and tourism receipts to economic growth. thus, it could be told that the economic growth based on export and tourism is valid in turkey for long-run.
