چکیده
|
Examining subjunctive mode in french and turkish volitive mode which was suggested as its equivalent in terms of language typology and contrastive grammar, in this study it is asserted that the differences between these two modalities remain at front of the similarities with respect to both morphologic and semantics. the subjunctive mode appearing only with one morpheme in french in relation to morphologic corresponds to morphemes in turkish stating volitive {-e} besides morphemes such as {-meli}, {-ebil-}, {-se} and many other types of words. in relation to semantics, it is observed that the areas of usage concerning the subjective mode are more prevalent in comparison with turkish. the fourteen areas of use for french subjective mode are corresponded to neither turkish volitive nor event modality more generally. the problem encountered about learning and teaching of the subjunctive mode which is presented as volitive in the books of french language teaching and translation-oriented grammar may result from incomprehension of usage rather than its conjugation. the reason for this may be due to not corresponding the areas of use one to one with mother tongue’s usage.
