The aim of this research is to examine attidudes and academic self concept towards turkish course of secondary school students according to gender and grade level and, as a second aim; to determine the relationship between the attidudes and academic self concept towards turkish course of the students. during the second semester of 2012-2013 academic year, 1624 students (829 female, 795 male) who are at secondary schools in the central district of ankara province, particapated in this research. the research data collected by “attitude towards turkish lesson scale” devoloped by the researcher of this research and “academic self concept scale” adopted into turkish by senemoğlu (1990). according to the data collected from the research, the attitudes and academic self concept of the students towards turkish course show a difference in terms of gender. besides, it is found that the points of the students’ attitude and academic self concept towards turkish course have fallen and there is a meaningful and positive corelation at an intermediate level between the attitudes of secondary school students towards turkish course and their academic self concept.
