   The Effect of Cooperative Learning Method on Teaching the Unit of “Human and Environment” in Science and Technology Course on the Achievement of 7th Grade Elementary School Students

چکیده    In this study, the effects of the cooperative learning method on achievements toward lesson of 7th grade students in elementary school were investigated. a control group design with pre-test and post-test has been used in the current research study. the sample of this study was 207 seventh grade students from four different elementary schools in bursa. the data was collected in the spring semester of 2009-2010 school year for five weeks. one of the 7th grade classes in these schools has been chosen as an experimental group (n=104) and the other as a control group (n=103). the unit entitled “human and environment” in the 7th grade science and technology textbook has been carried out through cooperative learning method in the experimental groups. on the other hand traditional learning method was implemented in the control groups. data collection tools of this study were the achievement tests have been used as pre-test and post-test. data was analyzed by using independent and paired-samples t-test. the findings of this dissertation study indicated that cooperative learning method was more effective than the traditional learning method on students’ achievement towards science and technology course.
