OPINIONS OF PRE-SERVICE MATHEMATICS TEACHERS’ ON THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTED BY MOBILE LEARNING

This mixed-method study aimed to investigate prospective teachers’ opinions on a mobile learning environment designed by the researchers. the study was carried out with 44 prospective mathematics teachers in the spring semester of 2017-2018 academic year at a state university in the western black sea region. the mobile learning attitude scale, opinion form, and google classroom shares were used as data collection tools. the data obtained from the attitude scale were analyzed quantitatively. data analysis took as a basis the mean of the scores of the prospective teachers from the scale and the intervals where the means were found. item means were calculated and presented as factors. the opinions about the mobile learning environment were analyzed with descriptive analysis method. objects in the google classroom environment were evaluated in terms of quality and sharing. prospective teachers indicated that the mobile learning environment was beneficial and motivating in that it contributed to improving the positive attitudes towards the lesson, increasing the motivation of the lesson, and facilitating student-student and student-teacher communication. findings showed that the prospective teachers had positive views on the mobile learning environment that was designed in the current study.
