Objective: this research was carried out to examine the communication skills of midwives working in primary health care. method: this descriptive study was conducted between 01.03.2008-01.05.2008 dates at 6 health centers in the ordu city center and a family planning center. research was conducted with 100 midwives. data personal information form and communication skills inventory was collected through. at evaluation of the data were used t test, and correlation analysis, non-normal distribution of data in the analysis with the mann- whitney u test, kruskal wallis test. results: midwives in primary health care average working time for 14 years. 71% of midwives always made health education, communication-related information has received 53%, 75.5% in a special course-related information received from the communication has been identified. 62% of midwives were noted having communication-related problems while public health education. always make health education and communication skills of midwives who were found to be better (p <0.001). communication-related fields of information communication skills of midwives were found to be higher than the non-received. conclusion: : in this research, health education is always the occasional communication skills of the midwives were found to be higher than the lenders
