چکیده    The most distinctive feature of traditional erzurum houses is their kitchen (tandırevi) architecture and the interior design of this architecture. kitchen and its units set a distinguished design example with its floor furnace, small oven, stone water tank, terrace (seki), cellar-storehouse shelves, kitchen rooms and its dovetail dome. one of the remarkable features of kitchen architecture is that it has stone water tanks called “kurun”. we encounter rectangular stone water tanks (kuruns), which were generally on the right or left hand side of the entrance door and deepened by carving and placed on the wall, as important elements which combine water use with aesthetic pleasure in erzurum houses, and as elements which should be introduced. the economic potential and social status of the owner of the house and also traditional features were effective on front facade decorations and on the emergence of different types of “kuruns”. in this article, the examples identified according to the typology we have made among extant kuruns and kuruns that was ruined, but identified in some sources and named as “fountain shaped kuruns” which had pointed arches, which were reminiscent of street fountains and available in big houses will be emphasized.
