The Examples of Naowarat Kakhay Textıle Museum’s Weavings

Thailand is a country in the far east that is famous for its silkworm and a place of interest for foreign tourists. in the country, which plays an important role in silk production in the world, bombyx mori silkworm species known as thai silk has been grown. various projects are generated to develop and to advance silk culture. the silk is quite important in the handicrafts of the country and especially in the textile arts. the raw material of the weavings is usually silk and it is also used as decorative materials. pattaya is one of the most important cities in the country. the textile museum was opened in the city in 2016 by naowarat kakhay. traditional weavings coming from all over the country has been exhibited in the museum. these weavings have been woven with traditional motifs. the aim of the research is to recognize and to examine the weavings of a region that is different from our culture and to determine the characteristics of motif, pattern and composition. the material of the study is some of the woven fabrics of thai silk in the museum which have different characteristics. to collect the data, a literature review about the subject was carried out, the analysis of the works exhibited in the museum was done and the required information was received from the expert in the museum and the works have been photographed and documented.
