The Authentic Performance Styles in the Music Culture of Teke Region

Turkish folk culture is a part of the universal culture. this culture is the origin of steppe culture. changing conditions and limited opportunities have forced the displacement of the turks into the tribes and have caused to develop the cult of steppe. in the turkman/yoruks culture, producing artistic value is common as it is in every culture. despite the existence of internal and external cultural resources that provide social change, the turkmen/yoruk have always keep alive their artistic values and they have also produced products in the field of music culture as well as many other areas. they have created their own unique cultural system and have made it possible for subculture systems connected to this cultural system and contributed to their development. these subcultures have begun to influence each other. one of the subcultural systems which constitutes anatolian turkman/yoruk culture is the cultural system of teke region. teke region’s culture system is composed of some cultural components such as music, folklore, food and beverage and local/folkloric dresses. teke region’s music culture which is among one of those components differs from the other subcultural music components in terms of its peculiar rendering. in this study, gurbet havaları, teke zortlamaları (zortlatmaları), kabaardıç (gabardıç), dımıdan and boğaz havaları (hada) which are the authentic performance styles existing in teke region music culture are analyzed in original musical characteristics.
