The View on Alternative Tourism by Managers of Accommodation Establishments: the Example of the East Antalya (Side) Tourism Development Project Area

The east antalya (side) tourism development project area (datgpb) is, with its accommodation types and number, one of the major tourism centres in antalya and in the whole of turkey when it comes to the number of tourists and income. the lack of determination and further studies on any additional potential tourism resources, besides the trio of sea, sand and sun in the area, and the lack of spreading activities throughout the year forms a threat to the future continuation of tourism. this ongoing situation makes that establishments are empty for a certain period every year. therefore the view of the accommodation establishment managers on potential tourism resources is of upmost importance. the aim of this study is to meet with 27 accommodation establishment managers face to face and to define their view on alternative tourism. the final results of analysing the data gained by this study show that alternative tourism can take part in the development of the datgpb.
